Dan Tomberlin with his artwork in the BLEU Gallery, Dahlonega, Georgia

About DAN

I'm a professional artist that creates original art on paper with pencils, pen and paint. I settled in Dahlonega a few years ago and sell and exhibits locally and as well as nationally. I studied art at Auburn University, Georgia State University and I received my BA from the University of South Carolina. I received an MA in Art History at Denver University.

I create original art on paper with graphite, colored pencils, aqua media, watercolor & acrylic. But I consider all my work DRAWING. My artwork is primarily figurative and narrative, and often abstract, and I explore concepts from everyday life to fiction & fantasy. I like to explore spatial and color techniques. I draw from my travels; studies of exotic foods; music and musicians; fish & water. And I do portrait work.

I'm a military brat, growing up around the world. I've lived and worked all over the country. I'm a father and grandfather, a pilot, an Air Force veteran, as well as a life-long Hippie. I've been a graphic designer, illustrator, exhibit designer and art educator and now I am retired and an almost full-time artist. Go figure.
